against. because a virus can adapt grow stronger and make really hard to kill. and my second reason is, like the bubonic plague, its transfered from animal to people if someone was to just touch an infected animal. or a common cold, It's an airborne virus you cough on someone while you have it odds are they have it now. think about it this way if someone had a cold and they coughed on you then there are two things to consider first is that there would be no way that you could catch it because of factor number two which is if viruses aren't living then the person who coughed on you wouldn't have the cold in the first place. viruses can modify and grow right? well I've never heard of anything dead that can modify and keep growing have you?
