I have a Compaq now and there is no anti-virus program that protects well.

Apple computers can get viruses but only an expert could even attempt it and the viruses can only really affect e-mail and corrupt your data which is easily fixed. I'd say get it.

From what I understand, any computer can be infected by viruses.

Up to now, most virus programmers have targeted IBM/Microsoft machines because they are the most widely used. More recently, however, people have started targeting Apple computers.

it is not true there are of virus's that infect Mac... just not a whole lot, i mean heck, who would really want to mess up a mac any more than they allready are? J/K

No, they are just as prone to attacks and virus as any other computer used by an idiot, the secret is not being the person to go to dodgy websites.

Mac's do get viruses, just like linux and unix machines, there are less of them but since they changed their CPU's to PC friendly ones (intel) the number are increasing. Type mac virus into google and youll see what I mean. I've picked a page at random to demonstrate my point.
