My dog's ears are crusty and filled with gooey crud. I swabbed them with hydrogen peroxide and he went crazy. Then I soothed them with antibiotic ointment made for dermatitis. He's calmed down now. What should I do to treat his problem?
What shoud I do to treat my dog's infected ears? Please take your dog to the vet and have his ears checked. There are different types of infections - yeast, bacterial... and they each require different treatments. Your vet can determine the type of infection by doing an ear cytology and looking at the slide under a microscope. Then he can give you a RX for the proper medication.
Home remedys often result in the infection getting worse and proper diagnosis and treatment being delayed.
