I got a monroe peircing a little over week ago, and after 5 days, the skin on the back of my lip grew over the back of my piercing. i put a new post in and repeirced it, and have seen 4 piercers since. they have all said to use a different cleaner to disinfect it and speed up healing, but i dont know which one to use. it seems they all only car to push to sell their own product. two said to use benzoklonium chloride and mouthwash, one said to use dragon mist (which is teatree oil), and one said to use a product called "H2Oxygen", which is salt water. after using the saltwater, my piercing became dry and red. i have now purchased a bottle of spectro gel, but i dont know which is the most effective! so many people have told me different things. Which do i use?

What cleaner should i use on my monroe peircing?

When the skin was growing over the piercing it's called embedding. That means most likely the stud was to short. Your supposed to use the sea salt soaks 2-3 times per day. You can use lavender oil on the monroe to help with the dryness. Lavender oil keeps the piercing lubricated, promotes healing, and helps with any pain or discomfort if you have any. All of the products that the piercers said work really well. It's all up to you on what you want to use.

Don鈥檛 ever use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol swabs, or alcohol-based cleansers on the piercing, they are very harsh on the piercing and dry it out.

What cleaner should i use on my monroe peircing?

i would try some simple peroxide, that will prevent it from getting any type of infection, you can put it on a q-tip or mix it with mouth wash, about 50/50, also make sure you keep your mouth cleaner in general untill it is completly healed, mouthwash after you eat
