Cure for dogs itchy skin...?

I have a 5 month old GSD. I have had him on Frontline Plus since he was 8 weeks old. For about the past month he has been itching a lot. I took him to the vet to have a skin scrapping done and they said every thing was fine that it was probably allergies. They had me put him on Benadryl for a week. However,, the Benadryl gave him the runs.. Anyways..I got him medicated puppy shampoo for dry, itchy skin but it only temporarily helps...What else can I do????
Cure for dogs itchy skin...?#1 - You don't say what you are feeding but I would be willing to bet it has corn and wheat in it. These are empty fillers and one of the primary causes of food-based allergies. Ironically, Hill's Science Diet, which many vets will try to sell you for skin/coat issues also contains corn and/or wheat...
I'd suggest getting him on Canidae All Life Stages or Wellness Fish & Sweet Potato
Both are "premium" foods, but reasonably priced; made with all-natural human grade ingredients of US origins.

This formula works well for dogs with allergies. I feed my guys Canidae but one has seasonal allergies (to grass) so along about August he goes onto the fish & sweet potato diet in order to keep his fur. Before we switched to the Canidae he looked a lot like the Velveteen Rabbit (you know, all the fuzz loved off the edges) about 6 monhs out of the year. Now he's actually re-growing hair in areas where he had none for years. We joke that Canidae put hair on his chest.
