I've had this problem for over 5 yrs. I've gone to foot drs and dermotogists all to no avail. I've used Carmol 40, Udder cream, prescribed compound ointments (with a tar base), vaseline and other dry skin creams and ointments. Is there any solution to my problem?
HELP! I have extremely dry feet with deep & painful cracks making it very painful to walk. A cure anyone?Soak in olive oil 3 times day. Stop using the meds. Go the all natural route.
HELP! I have extremely dry feet with deep & painful cracks making it very painful to walk. A cure anyone?Well, I'm not a foot doctor, but I did go to cosmetology school, and have some experience with severely dry feet. Since your condition is chronic I don't know if this will help or not, but I know what I would try next if I were you (if you haven't tried this already, of course).
First, get a professional pedicure with a paraffin dip. If your feet are tender, tell them to be gentle when they file. They will really soften the skin, and get rid of many layers of dry, dead skin. Then, go to the health food store and get the heaviest, thickest foot cream or scar ointment you can find (the kind that come in a jar because they are too thick to squeeze through a tube), made with all natural, healing ingredients.
Put this stuff on every night before you go to bed, apply it liberally (nice and thick layers), and put a pair of socks on over it. If you have thick, winter socks, that would be best. In the morning before you leave, and/or every time you shower you need to reapply it, just use a little less than you do at night, and put regular cotton socks on. Don't ever walk around your home barefoot while this is healing.
