I have EXTREMELY dry skin on my hands..to the point of painful splits..vaseline seems to do well, but is not practical with all the paperwork and typing I have to do..even with bandaids..suggestions please?
How do you treat skin splits?ok, this may sound odd but give it a try.
if you have a painful skin split, then try putting a dab of super glue on it. i know that they stuff is toxic is swallowed and all that but when my brother got a bad cut on his hand, the doctor didn't put stitches in, he used crazy glue. i also work with lots of people who use it with no ill effects. i personally have not tried it, because my hands aren't that bad. once it dries, use lotions regularly to stop more splits from forming.
the skin creams and lotiomng mentioned above are also really good. so is vanicream, it is also very gentle. in my line of work i deal with lots of those types of products and people tell me why they use a particular brand all the time, also, since your hands are so dry try using a lotion made for diabetics. they are extra gentle so the product won't burn or sting when it goes on. those types of lotions are kept with the diabetic supplies at walgreens and i assume otherstores. maybe even try the kind for feet is that all you can find. diabetics can only put very few things on their feet. nothing with fragrance of anything like that (i know, i'm a type 1 diabetic)
give it a try, goodluck.
