My horse has dry skin?

My horse has dry skin, white dusty flakes when I brush her. Someone recomended coconut oil for her but it seems very expensive. Does anyone have any sujestions on what I can use on her.
P.S. I live in canada and minus 20 degres celcius is not uncommon at this time of year
My horse has dry skin?Corn oil, just poor like a teaspoon or capful in the grain 1x/day
My horse has dry skin?Coconut oil? Not to eat, I hope! Try feeding her corn oil. Feed her just a few tablespoons to start ouff with, and mix it well into her food. After a week or two, use more. Don't exceed 1/2 cup! Most horses like the taste of it, but it can act as a laxative if you do too much too fast.
Some people have also had good luck with Weight Builder by Farnham, which is another feed supplement. I am guessing it's the oil in that supplement that helps. You also might ttry adding Clovite, which is an inexpensive powdered vitamin and mineral supplement, to her feed. Go with the oil first, though (and stick with corn oil...no vegetable, mineral or coconut!)
My horse has dry skin?Corn oils are good. Or a relevant bach flower remedy.
Er, how old exactly is she? I knew a horse that aged really quickly and began loosing fur and getting dry skin when he was 23.
=D
My horse has dry skin?Corn oil & Flaxseed oil(really great)! Both are really good!
***EDIT*****
Don't use mineral oil. It is a laxative.
