Is a face rash common for a young baby?

Our baby is 6 weeks old. For the past 3 weeks she has had a terrible rash over most of her face. Doctors (we live in a developing country, so I maintain a healthy skepticism) say this is not unusual and it will go away when she's about ONE YEAR OLD. They gave us a cream that works when she is irritated by it, but it has come back every day so far. The skin remains rough, pimply and off color. Advice or information very gratefully accepted. Very concerned here.
Is a face rash common for a young baby?Is seems very normal for newborns to have a number of rashes over their first few weeks of life. My -son had red pimples all over his face, chest and back - some of which were pus filled. I was told that this was baby acne (started at about 2-3 weeks old). We were advised to simply wash with water and NO soaps or lotions (since these may block the pores and make it worse). It seemed to clear up by the time he was 6 or 7 weeks old. The important thing to ask is ' does it bother them?'. As upsetting as it may be for the proud parents who want to show off their new bundle, as long as baby isn't too bothered - try not to let it bother you.
Is a face rash common for a young baby?Face rash is common among young babies as their skins are extremely sensitive. This is especially so if you are breast feeding as the milk tend to go all over their little faces.
Always clean baby's face with clean wet towel after feeds.
