I have a 10 year old Rot/Dobi mix. He has had both knee's worked on from injury's 6 years ago. His leg has been swolen for the past year and it has been leaking a clear fluid. My local vet said that it is nothing to worry about. What could the fluid be and what is causing it to just leak thru the skin. There are no leasions just fluid comming out of the pours. It leaks a lot, enough to soak thru a gause pad and an ace wrap in about 2 hours time. The vet said that it was most likely LYMPH FLUID and that it will not bother him. I just can't believe that fluid leaking from the leg can be healthy and or not bothersome to the animal.

My Dog's Leg Is Leaking Fluid. What Could It Be & What Could Be Causing It?How long has this been going on? If skin tissue is wet all the time, dirt and bacteria will stick to it so first of all keep it clean! You are not bound to one vet and can always get a second opinion. And in this case you should.
My Dog's Leg Is Leaking Fluid. What Could It Be & What Could Be Causing It?Take your dog immediatly and get a secobnd opion if you are woried. As the dog's owner you have the right to do so. Your dog's knee should definatly not be still swollen fronm surgurey a year ago. It also sound like the knee may be infected.
