I have a weird scar sticking out under my belly ring, it is reddish purpleish, I think it may be a keloid, it has been on me for like 2 weeks and I have had my piercing for 6 months! The wierd thing is it is leaking mucus like stuff and I don't know what to do! I am going to a waterpark this weekend will it be safe to swim with it? How do I get rid of it?

Help! My belly button ring has a weird scar thing, what do I do!?!?

Since you already think that it may be a keloid, try crushing up some aspirin and mixing it with water or saline solution. You don't want to make it watery, you want to create a paste that you can leave on the area until it dries. Do this once a day until the keloid is gone. Good luck! In between the times that you put aspirin on the area, clean with sea salt water or saline solution. For more information on proper cleaning visit the APP (association for professional piercers) website www.safepiercing.org. Good luck!

Usually bumps are caused by some sort of irritation. Get rid of the irritation, get rid of the bump.

It could be a scratch on the jewelery, or crusties being dragged into the piercing over and over again. Or, it could just be really crappy low quality jewelery. Try going to a professional piercer and asking them to change your jewelery to surgical grade stainless steal or titanium.

Just baby it a lot. use 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt and 8 oz of warm water to soak it every day twice a day for 5 minutes each. Other than that, pretend it isnt there and just leave it the hell alone.

Swimming would likely be a bad idea with an irritated piercing. The chlorine will dry it out a lot which will irritate it even more, and the other bacteria in the water could get into the piercing and infect it.

By the way, the mucus is likely just lymph. A lot of piercings will seep this when they're irritated, but not infected.

Good luck!
