Any good Audition tips?

I'm auditioning for "By the Skin of our Teeth" by Thornton Wilder at my high school. I've read the play like 6 times now. Does anyone have any good audition tips? I have about 3 weeks til auditions. (FYI. You are given two monologue choices but I don't know what they are yet as audition information has not been provided.) Does anyone have any good tips? The show is relatively small cast and I would love to get one of the leads (Mr. Antrobus or Henry).

Also, can a good free analysis been found anywhere? There are certain things I don't understand. What does the bingo caller in Act 2 have to do with anything?

Thanks in advance!

Any good Audition tips?

I've never read the play but if you don't understand some parts then talk to the drama teacher. I'm in Speech and Debate so I have developed some good ways of destressing and i've also noticed some things people should avoid doing when they're speaking.

1. Don't bring up a pen, your ID, or anything you can play with while you're delivering your speech. People will nervously do that all the time and it destracts the people watching you.

2. Take a deep breath and close your eyes to clear everything out of your body (except for the audition of course) it gets rid of the gidders.

3. Try analyzing the play really in deapth before you do your audition. It will give you a better understanding of how your charecter feels.
