I hide myself from the sun everytime I go out because I have heard from different people that sun is the leading cause of oily skin, is that true?

Does the sun make you skin oily or cause acne?

i have REALLY acne prone skin and it is really hard to keep clear.

in the summer it does make my skin oily but it gets rid of the acne....kinda a double standard right?

I've never heard that before. The sun will make you sweat which will then mix with your natural oils and clog your pores, but I do not believe the sun is responsible directly. Some sunlight everyday is good for your body and your skin.

usually the sun actually helps acne, although it will promote skin cancer. It is all a moderation balance I guess.

It's probably the heat of the sun that causes the skin to sweat and look oily. Either that, or the oil on your skin is easier to see (because it shines) in the sun.

Acne is mainly caused by bacteria in your pores (white heads are actually filled with white blood cells preventing infection and blackheads are a result of pores clogged by dead skin cells) and puberty. A strict daily and nightly facial cleaning routine should help.

Or if you're very concerned about your skin, see a dermatologist.
