I rescued my dog about 8 months ago from a homeless guy and when I first got him, a Red colored Bloodhound 21/2 years old now, he was underweight and had worms. We gave him worm meds and no longer find those rice looking larvae or little spaghetti worm segments by his butt any longer. He gained his weight back and is doing very well. On his chest just smack dab in the middle of his chest is a bld spot just under his rib cage in the very middle that feels like a lump of something under his skin. Very soft bald spot and very weird bump underneath it so I cannot find any info except possible parasite still in him. Any ideas other than go see a vet because he is due to visit the vet in 3 months anyways.

My dog has a bald spot on chest just bellow ribcage, what could it be ?

My dog has a spot like that too.She doesn't have worms and is not sick. It's a small rupture like a hernia.I just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get bigger and need an operation.I love my dog and if I thought it was anything to be alarmed about I'd have her to the vet in a minute. She's had the lump over 5 years now and it hasn't changed.Since you have a vet visit schedueled anyway,be sure to ask about it to ease your mind.Good luck.

A lot of big dogs like this get bald spots on the chest from laying on the floor. Especially tile floors. Also this breed of dog is prone to tumors under the skin. Most of the time they are harmless tumors but they can get big. That might account for the bump. More than likely it is just caused by laying on the floor. My dog has a bump and a blad spot and he is just fine. As long as the dog is not in any discomfort. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Ask you vet the next time he is in for a check up. Keep ontop of those heart worms too. That breed of dog are really really prone to those.

Good Luck!!
