Their last meal, 2 days prior were live earth worms that were also eaten by other fish in the same tank. Nothing else was harmed. The rope fish have also been in the same tank for a few months, they are not new to the tank.
Could it be swim bladder or a parasite?
Again, it only affected the 2 rope fish.

i suggest not feedind that type of worm to those types of fish (swim bladder would be appropriate to say)
