My 8 months old sucks two of her fingers at once all the time. It's extremely hard to keep her hand dry and clean because she's constantly sucking on them even at night. She doesn't care for pacifiers and she's teething right now so she's hanging on to her fingers more than before if that's possible at all.

I've discovered yesterday that her skin between those two fingers peels and it looks raw. She does not seem to be bothered about it but I am concerned. It looks red and peeling and I am worried about fungus or something else. I try to keep it clean and dry but it's not easy as she puts it back to her mouth in less than a minute again.

Have any of you ever heard of this? Do you have ideas what to do to help on it? Thanks!

Rash/peeling between baby's fingers from sucking fingers?

My son did this and we put socks on his hands. He got frustrated and it was sometimes unbearable for us, but after about a week or so, he was passed it. It helps trust me.

Rash/peeling between baby's fingers from sucking fingers?

My son is 5 months old and is doing the same thing. When I notice him sucking his fingers, I know his gums are agitating him, and so I do the "routine". Get a Q-tip and put some Oral-gel on it, rub only on irritated gums. Give recommended dosage of Tylenol, and give him a cold teether. If he regresses to his fingers I put a sanitized plastic glove on his hand, or his baby socks to give his fingers a break. Sometimes I'll even let him suck on my pinky knuckle, just make sure it's sanitized. I also let my baby chew and suck on his feeding sppon when I'm giving him his cereal and applesauce. I also nurse him often for comfort.
