My German Shepard puppy has..

His hair is falling out and his skin is starting to get dry and some of his hair is not growing back. Do any vets know what this condition is?

The problem you are describing can be many different things from mange to allergies. The best thing to do is to bring the dog into the vet and have a skin scraping done to rule out sarcoptic and demodectic mange. If it is determined the dog does not have mange you can consider another skin problem or allergies.

I had a lab mix that had severe allergies and tehy started around 2yrs of age and we never really could get them under control, but they CAN be managable.

my rotty actually had that problem, if you take him to a vet they will give you fish oil, it makes the skin no so dry and makes they hair shine. it smells but it works. he may have a dermitis problem, try the fish iol, i think you can actually get it at wal-mart.

many tests are used to determine specific health problems. Scraping, etc etc. Take your dog to the vet. It could be any number of problems, from mites to mange to an allergy (which in and of itself could be almost anything in his environment). Go to the vet.
