ATI X700 opinions please.?

I'm thinking of getting this card: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=...

The trouble is I'm not too good at judging whether a card is a good one, or its beauty is only skin deep...

Could someone plese round up how well this exact card would perform in games such as FEAR, BF2 or PREY? What sort of settings would I be running them on? Thanks for any help at all!

Here's some test reports/benchmark comparison charts,

you can get an idea

There's scroll down menus at bottom of page,you can go direct to the charts

The X700 comes out near bottom of charts,,but a year before it was up near top of the charts.

Vid technology has flown ahead in last few years.

Hard to keep it all in perspective.

I'd suggest compare all cards,,then SHOP HARD without any prejudice toward Brands/Make/Model.

Often you can find a Better Performer at a better Price than a card that seemed particularly interesting/attractive.

At the price level of Geek's X700,,,about $100,,

another $30~50 can put you at a whole new level of perf.

Maybe that's a big difference in $$,,maybe not,,, I'm just sayin'.

The longer you wait,the cheaper stuff gets.

SOMETIMES,,after Christmas,, Vid Cards can be found on E-Bay for Really Good prices.

People get new cards as Christmas Gifts,,or spend Gift $$ on new cards---then sell their "old cards" at good prices
