Demodectic Mange???

I have a Waimerana Dog thats 1 year old.He's been diagonsed with demodectic mange.It seems he got it from his mom.Now I have tried every thing possible for its cure However if any one out there had this problem with their pet & if they survived the disease then please advise or recommend me anypossible alternatives or medication.He is now starting to get secondary skin problem..Please Advise--Thanks

Your vet should be dipping the dog with a special dip. If he hasnot offered this to you, find another vet!

There are 2 methods to get rid of Demodectic mange, 1 are the dips your vet does and the other is giving Ivomec daily. Ask your vet which would be best for your Weimaraner. If he has secondary infections he also needs an antibiotic..

Hi, the dog my hubby brought home for me had demodex mange and before we could get her to the vet it had become generalized & she had a secondary skin infection !! it seemed to happen over-night ! FROM EXPERIENCE dont wait too long to long to get to the vet. And its NOT cheap for treatment either. We maxed out our CareCredit vet charge card at $1,000. All on Mitaban dips, skin scrapings, anti-biotics. WE WAITED TOO LONG, dont make the same mistake we did for your pups sake. The larger the dog the more it costs for treatment. Our mutt was 85 pounds then.

But it all was worth it, she is fine now and its been 6 months and we are still mite free !
