I have a pet rat who nibble..

It isn't grooming, it's more quick, short bites on feet, face, skin. It used to driver her "sister" crazy (she just passed away).

The poor girl is alone now and due to my last 2 dying from resperatory disease (we spent hundreds on vet bills trying to save them), and her showing signs of it, I do not want to get another rat.

I want to take her out for a few hours a day, but I can't stand the constant biting. She doesn't seem to do it out of fear, I think she's trying to be playful. HELP!

Maybe try playing with her a little more... Tell her "NO" when she starts to "nibble". Maybe have a treat or the wood block (like someone sugested) handy to give her when she starts in. It could be love bites...I don't know. Maybe even get her one of those big balls to put her in so she can run around the house. That way, she is getting exercise too. Wear gloves when you play with her. Chances are she is just nervous. Dont hand feed her, or she will think that your hands are food.

Bite it back and see how it likes it.
