when I googled it was that it is primarily a gay man's disease. Makes me wonder what he was up to while we were together and if I should have any medical tests done. Any advice???
The diseases affect a large portion of men who have sex with men and, in some cases of hepatitis B, can be fatal. Symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach discomfort, dark urine and jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin).
Doctors with GLMA say hepatitis A can be spread by "rimming," or any oral contact with fecal matter from a person with hepatitis A. Hepatitis B can be transmitted by body fluids such as semen, in much the same way HIV can be transmitted.
GLMA conducted surveys at Gay Pride events around the country this summer and discovered that out of 1,430 respondents:
As many as 67 percent of respondents were vulnerable to hepatitis A;

Thanks!
I just found out my estranged husband (separated over 2 years) has Hepatitis A. The first thing I found...?Does not mean he's gay. There are a lot of other wys he could have gotten it, I would get checked if I were you and just go on from there. Good Luck
I just found out my estranged husband (separated over 2 years) has Hepatitis A. The first thing I found...?The first thing you should do is get tested. As for the homo thing, that's just like HIV/AIDS pandemic. You think it's only restricted to just one group but it spreads. All that has to happen to spread Hep. A is for normal sex without protection much like the HIV/AIDS virus. These diseases don't discriminate and you find with numbers and studies like the one you point to that they always try to find a way of making the numbers point to what they wanted to get. Gay Pride events are not just attended by homosexual people and those who attend are usually of a certain group within a culture and you have no idea how many were interviewed or percents.
