And how can they contaminate me with the disease, alsowhat is the difference of mrsa in the blood, and in the skin and which ones are contagious.

The degree of likelihood depends on whether or not you live with this family member, or come into contact with them often--and the amount of precautionary measures you take. It is a bacterial infection, so if you come into contact with this family without precautionary measures, the chances of you being infected with MRSA is quite high.

You could potentially get MRSA by being in contact with this person--that is, touching them, touching things that have touched them, etc. This includes coming into contact with their skin or bodily fluids (includes mucus, blood, urine, etc.) Also, you should watch for any cuts, scrapes, or any open wounds on your body or theirs, and make sure to have it covered up and clean. MRSA affects the whole body, and because it is a bacterial infection, any unprecautioned contact with an affected individual is contagious.

To decrease your risks, wash your hands regularly (and encourage your family member to wash their hands/take showers regularly, too). Make sure you don't share anything with them, especially eating from their plate.
