My Body is Really Cold and ..

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease or more commonly known as hypothyroidism 6 months ago. I lost 30 lbs (thank god) but I still have other symptoms that concern me; extrememly dry skin that doesnt go away even though I put on hand lotion twice a day in huge gobs where my hands are covered in hand cream (nivea) at least half an inch thick and I am extremely cold- I wear 4 layers of clothing and Im still cold (I live in CA). The only time when these symptoms went away was when I was in Italy during the summer and it was very humid and it was 100 degrees. My thyroid is normal and my medicine is up to date so I really cant think of what could be wrong.

Better go to your doctor and fast!

Get some exercise -- that'll warm you up.

And drink more water.. your skin loves water.

Your thyroid is not normal just because you numbers fall within the medical range of normal. Obviously your thyroid is still off balance for your body. Usually with hypo-thyroidism you gain and not lose weight. If your doctor did not hear you describe your symptoms or is ignoring them you need to get a second opinion. Good luck.
