Changes in a skin tag?

i have a skin tag on my hip, in a place i dont see regularly unless i make an effort to look at it. well recently(yesterday) i noticed it became purple and the typical flap shape it maintains became bulbous. ive read these things are harmless, but i also know that any random changes in skin may be a cause for concern. well today, it hasnt gotten any bigger, but half of it looks to be kinda raw i guess and the top part kinda turned blue/grey/black. the more this progresses the more worried i get, i have no health insurance so i dont know if i should be concerned or if maybe its in the process of naturally falling off?

Changes in a skin tag?

Skin tags are generally harmless. They can increase in size. It may be coming off and/or it may have been irritated by clothing. If the blood supply is cut off, the tag will fall off. Continue to monitor it.

It's in the process of coming off. I had one under my armpit, of all places, & it rubbed itself raw several times. I finally got sick of this & took a hair from my brush & wound it around tightly to cut off the blood supply. It turned a few nasty shades of bluish black before it scabbed over & fell off.

Going to the doctor will require freeze off treatments, using liquid nitrogen. It's a lengthy process & costly without insurance. Keep an eye on it & I'm sure it'll fall off on its own.
