Yes you can and I have done it, but you have to be very care full.

Pay close attention to it's location, if it is located near a main artery it could very well be using that artery as it blood supply. If you are not care full not only could you suffer severe blood loss you could allow an infection to enter directly into you blood stream which could prove fatal.

Sterilization of the skin is just as important as the utensils you are using.

1) Yes it is gonna hurt for 1/2 of a second.

2) Use sterilized fingernail clippers....it's faster!

If you are STUPID enough to cut it yourself - you deserve to get an infection.

You can do it, yeah, it's gonna hurt. You can hold it with tweezers and cut it off. My friend did it, but numbed the area with ice first.

Or if you are too chicken for that, you can take a small string or thread and tie it off, cutting it's circulation off. It will die and fall off. May take a while though.
