I had a skin tag and caught..

tie a piece of cotton around it very tight and leave it for a few day it will fall off. This isnt a joke , that doctor on gmtv said it

if you pop along to your g.p they can take it off for you it only takes a few minutes then they will send it off to see if its all ok. then it wont be bugging you anymore

Tie a piece of thread around it - tighten it every couple of days.

Apply something like haemorrhoid cream to it - this will shrink it and the thread will cut off the blood supply - so in a few days it will just drop off painlessly (and bloodlessly!)

go to your doctors and they will remove it for you, not painful

It depends a bit, on which part of the body your skin tag is on. For example, in the armpit people tend to get crops of small ones, (see link below for a pic), whereas if they are solitary they can grow to quite a big size (see below).

The important thing about skin tags is their blood supply, for a reason I'll explain. If you look at the 'big skin tag' pic, it must be clear that all the blood for it has to go in-and-out through the very narrow stalk it is attached by. This means that tags of any size, need one biggish artery and vein going through the stalk.
