Is it a boil??

i have this bump on the inside of my upper groin just noticed it about a week ago.... at first it looked like a skin tag but today when i woke up its about the size of an eraser head and it hurts bad when i touch it... it hurts when i walk..it is hard, under the skin it is very swollen and tender... is it a boil? how would i have gotten one? i am very scared :( im a 21 year old male.... please help me.. thank you :)

It is quite possible that it is an ingrown hair. Before you go to the doctor, try putting a HOT washcloth on it for a few minutes or sit in a hot tub of water. That will open up the pores of your skin and draw out the infection. You don't necessarily need antibiotics if you are able to lance it yourself. If it is too deep for you to lance it, then you should see your doctor if it doesn't get any better. That way he can lance it for you and prescribe you antibiotics if he deems necessary.

It does sound like it is a boil. You might have to get antibiotics and have to have it open so the pus can be drained out.
