Is there anything I can do to speed the rate at which stitches dissolve?

I went to the urologist last week to remove a small skin tag. He gave me three dissolvable stitches to close up the little wound. He said that the stitches will dissolve in 7-10 days. Is this an accurate statement? It's been 6 days and while the wound appears to be healing nicely, the stitches look the same as before. Is there anything I can do to speed up the rate at which the stitches dissolve? I want to avoid the tunnels, scars, and infections that sometimes go along with dissolvable stitches (especially the parts that are outside the body). The doctor said that showers are ok after the first couple of days, but I've been careful, using sponge baths in order not to accidentally rip the stitches.
I think a shower would be fine now because the wound has closed. Someone recommended soaking the area in warm water or warm water with chamomile because chamomile has some antibiotic qualities. Is this a good idea?
Is there anything I can do to speed the rate at which stitches dissolve?Take note of what your doctor has said. A normal wash with some anticeptic soap is just fine. The stitches were developed to do just that, self-dissolve.
If you wanted to give them a bathe and not the rest of your body, put some salt in water and do it that way. We use saline solution all the time in hospital and in hospital in the home situations.
Oh, I drink cammomile tea before bed time as a relaxant, and perhaps that is a great Idea for you too :)
