Gradual self-tanners: ever noticed that some applications are significantly more noticable than othe

I used some for a week+and every time was typical.
One day I applied some, went outside in the heat(no sun)and started sweating. My face was very hot and flushed. Later on after I washed it off and the results were drastically more noticable, it even looked as though I had a touch of a sunburn.(retained for several days)
-anyone had similar exp.?
-could it be the sweat or surface skin temperature increase?
-any other ways of increasing effectiveness?
Gradual self-tanners: ever noticed that some applications are significantly more noticable than others? They don't protect you from the sun, and even if it was a cloudy day your skin will still get damaged and possibly burnt. I'd say you did get sunburnt, even without the sun.
The gradual self tanners will only take you to a certain level of tan, they won't make you as dark as if you'd used an actual tanner and reapplied twice or three times a week.
