Ok, just a question. When you get your TB test done there is a "bump" just below your skin. Should that "bump" stay there or should it sort of disappear after 2hrs. thanks

General question about TB test?

When the medication is put in, it makes what is called a "bleb" that is a small raised area.. that should go down pretty fast.. if you have a positive tb test, the area around where the medication went in will become red and a little swollen (greater than 10mm across is considered positive)... the test should not be read, however, until 48-72 hours after administration... also, if it is positive, it doesn't necessarily mean you have it, just that you have been exposed to it... a chest xray will have to be done to diagnose the actual disease.. hope this helps a little...

General question about TB test?

it depends on your level of reaction... if it grows to a significant size, then you may test positive (it will also usually be red)... if it is just a bump, don't sweat it... that's why they wait 48 hours to check response.
