I just got my lip pierced 5 days ago.. and the piercer put a stud in it. (I'd of preferred a ring in the first place, but I guess maybe that's not standard?)

My problem is that the skin in the inside of my lip is engulfing the flat disc and puffing out around it, and, not really "closing up" but it's starting to build up overtop. I know this is standard for the healing process, but what do you think I should do? Try and push the stud in from the outside to get the disc out from the skin? It will probably only happen again---it happened over the course of me sleeping for 5 hours. Should I replace it with a ring as best as possible? or will that even be dangerous as it can close up in a matter of minutes..

I just don't want to end up hurting myself trying to get th flat disc out from this thin-clear layer of skin-buildup.

Thanks!

Ryan

Inside of lip closing up around flat disc of stud on fresh lip piercing?

the same thing happened to me and at frist I just tried to keep the disc out of the area that was closing up a bit, but that didn't really work, after about a week I got a longer post, and that really helped. Go talk to your piercer and see if they offer a stud with a longer post on it, that will keep it from pulling into the hole. Later I switched to a bioflex stud and I really like that, but for the healing process, ask if you can get a longer post.
