I don't have many breakouts, but when I get a few spots, they are nodular -- very hard, big, swollen and red --- I've been using a spot treatment that has both SA and BP in it, and the spot is going down (very slowly) but it's leaving my skin very scaly, like I've got a sunburn... Is it ok to scrub away that skin or will it just keep getting worse?

Salicylic acid and Benzoyl Peroxide for nodular acne...?

i also suffer from nodular acne.

the point of SA and BP is to dry out pimples AFTER they reach the surface, however nodules rarely ever reach the surface. you need to get yourself to a dermatologist and talk about antibiotics or maybe even accutane( that's what im on). your trying to clean from the outside when really you need to clean from the inside.

sure changing your diet, would also help. i recently ate 5 apples a day and i saw great results.

drink plenty of water(at least 3 liters a day) and try to eat healthier.

try not to scrub the skin, you'll just irritate the acne. i would reccomend cetaphil oil free moisturizer with spf 15, it's for acne prone skin and it's not greasy.

exfoliate(scrub lightly) only once a week, and just apply moisturizer every morning.

Hi,

it's important to inform yourself first before buying the wrong solution. Products like e.g. accutane or proactiv (and those pills doctors prescribe) are aggressive and can cause damages to you and your skin since they contain harmful ingredients.
