How can I protect my skin against sun allergies?

I never used to suffer from them when I was younger but these past few years whenever I go abroad I get red heat bumps/rash on my chest and shoulders. I've tried using the Piz Buin allergy sun lotions too but it doesn't seem to work.
Can anyone help??
How can I protect my skin against sun allergies?I had the same problem as you and it started when I was around 40-45. The rash was always on my arms and upper chest, but nowhere else. I tried all the sunscreens recommended for allergies, but in the end the pharmacist at our local Boots Chemist recommended that when I went overseas I should take a course of Anti-histimane tabs whilst there. I bought their own make, only had to take one a day and they didn't cause drowsiness. Best of all - they worked! I have to say that I only took them when I was intending to expose myself to intense sunlight for longer periods than usual, eg., on holiday. The strange thing is that after a few years I ceased having this allergic reaction and now live in a country that has very hot summers. Good luck.
